Happy thinking about my 4-year old daughter Addie's first day of soccer practice, which was this past Saturday. It was so fun to watch her play for the first time.

Addie insisted on wearing a little pink dress, even though she knew we'd just be changing into her new uniform when they handed them out before practice started. So we get there and all the other kids are dressed like soccer pros. They all seemed to be bigger and older than Addie too (the age group is 4-6). This wasn't looking good.

Anyway, we got her uniform on and practice started. Addie paid very close attention to the coach and did everything he asked. So they start to play a scrimmage game and Addie just comes to life. She chased that ball everywhere it went and hustled hard the whole time. It was really hot and humid but she never slowed down. She ran the ball the length of the field several times but couldn't connect with the goal (she didn't seem to realize that was what she was supposed to do). But she was involved in just about every play and never gave up. It was just so much fun watching her!
