I am happy because there is a really good chance that we will all get to meet next year. Some of us have been brainstorming a way to make a SKMB Convention happen at last. We are looking at 2013 for the event. We are trying to come up with ideas and ways of doing this while at the same time making it something we can more easily afford. Please come check the thread out. Check in the Meet at the Dark Tower group too. This is making me very, very, very happy!

I'm happy today because I've been a part of something really powerful. A group of people fighting a big company and winning. It took 3 days.
A company in the US that makes epi-pens started airing a new commercial this week. Epi-pens are an auto-injectible dose of epinephrine used in the treatment of anaphylaxis, a life threatening allergic reaction. This new commercial gives the impression that it's OK for a child to eat foods that might contain their allergen...as long as they have their epi-pen with them. That is not true. Complete avoidance is the only way to be completely safe. My life was saved by epinephrine, but others haven't always been so lucky. It's not a magic injection....sometimes it's not given soon enough, and sometimes even when given immediately, it doesn't work.
So, many people with allergies and parents of kids with allergies, joined together and sent e-mails, and blogged, and posted on facebook, and posted on food allergy forums.....and the company has pulled the ad.
It feels really good to have been a part of this.
