Hello Stephen,
I realize from your FAQ that you are no longer taking submissions for the exercise in "On Writing" but what writer ever listened? So here it goes anyways. I wrote a story a couple of years ago about a jilted lover who then kidnaps his ex- wifes' kid and then follows her so he can watch the agony and despair she is experiencing while trying to find her kid. At first I thought that I was a bit of a sicko when I wrote it, but now I realize that ideas come from anywhere just as this did. I have never kidnapped any of my exes kids. In response to the exercise the characters could easily be reversed and the woman could be the kidnapper. So there it is, thanks for the chance to change perspective. For now it is a story maybe one day it will be a book. By the way I enjoyed the book "On Writing" and I am not just saying that to kiss ass as I have never read any of your books until this one. I tried reading "The Stand" but never made it all the way through. I was in my Hemingway phase (short and sweet) and "The Stand was way too long a read. Now I am in my Rushdie phase so "The Stand" should be a piece of cake. (sorry for the cliche'). By the way thanks for the summary. I always wondered how it ended. My brother is reading 11/22/63 and is enjoying it, so maybe I will give that a try now that I know where you are coming from.
Well that's all for now,
Hope you are having a good day,
Andrew Glen
