Vampire Faction: under or overrated..?

I like my vampires, but specific types...

Anne Rice.
John Carpenter.
Bram Stoker.
Angel. (Yeah, that's the ovaries clanging. Sorry, but it's true.)
Stephen King.

My preferred vampire sources are not in order of preference. I just get a hangin' for a slightly different flavour at different times. Gimme bloody, hungry vampires and not teeny bopper vampires in lust.

I personally don't care for the Twilight vampires (or any of the other creatures running around in that saga). I watched about 30 minutes of the 1st movie and turned it off in disgust. Too much teenage brooding over (the lack of) having sex. It seems to be all about NOT having sex, and that metaphor is lame in my opinion. I always enjoyed most of the Anne Rice vampire stories (especially Interview...), and I'm psyched that Ms. Rice is doing a signing this Thursday in NYC for her new book (The Wolf Gift) so I'm taking my copy of Interview along to get it signed as well. I digress...I tried reading the Snookie Stackhouse books, but they left me distracted. I agree with SRBO in that The Passage was a letdown for me. All that great press it got, and then I read it and was bored and confused.
