Did anyone else assign actors to the characters?

I recently finished The Shining, I have to admit, it wasn't exactly my favourite book, and up until the end I think I prefered the Stanly Kubrick film. Anyway, having seen the film first, I was obviously always going to assign the image of Jack Nicholson, but I didn't really picture anyone as Wendy. However, despite seeing the film, and knowing Dick Halloran as the odd looking bald guy, the only person I could see or here when I was reading Dicks parts was the late Bernie Mac!

Did anyone do this? With the shining or any other king book?

Yep, guilty as charged....I often will visualize an actor or actress in the role...or people from my own life I think resemble the characters in some way...and not necessarily the ones who starred in the films...but for me, the one character who will never wear a possible variety of faces...is Roland...in my heart-he IS and always will be the "twinner" of Clint Eastwood, or the other way 'round...

Sure. Growing up there was a neighbor lady who was thoroughly nasty. Not just in attitude, but physically as well. The first time I read Wizard and Glass, I immediately pictured her as Rhea. She still lives there, and one day I will work up the courage to ask her about Ermot, but I ain't there yet...
