So. it's been at least 25 years for any of the three. I seem to think I remember more about Pet Semetary than the others because once you read that one, it's hard to forget. I'm leaning toward The Dead Zone. I remember that I thoroughly enjoyed reading it 30 years ago (wow - that's hard to believe) but am pretty hazy on the story after all of these years. I have been wanting to give Tommyknockers another shot for quite a long time too. But since it's political season, it's probably going to be The Dead Zone.

Another reason I want to read The Dead Zone is that I've seen the TV series is available for streaming from Netflix. I've never seen it and am curious but I want to read the book again before watching it.
Me, too - I am also considering The Dead Zone. I got a Hallowe'en sign for the house last weekend that says" The Dead Zone" and it got me thinking. I know - kinda weird. OK - I should know this but I think that is the one where a guy wakes up out of a coma and can see things e.g. he holds a scarf and knows where a dead girl is buried, etc. Plus when he shakes someone's hand he can sort of read their mind. Anyway, I know I sound a little ditzy and scatterbrained here but it's been a long day. I have just read his most recent works but I think maybe I will start revisiting the old stuff too! Ah the joy of being old, eh? I just hope the whole plot doesn't come back to me when I start reading

This one was quite good, even if it was supposed to be a kid's book... But I guess a lot of us are just kids at heart. I finished Eyes of the Dragon and now I am reading Danse Macabre. Too bad I could not get it in large type. I like to read it in the bathtub while soaking in Lush bath bombs

I just started "The Adventures of Captain Underpants" last night with my 3 year old. He has sophisticated tastes.

Started 'Handling The Undead' by John Ajvide Lindqvist last night. His 1st book was 'Let Me In'. This is his second. So far it looks pretty promising!

I am still reading the first story of Full Dark, No Stars. I really like it, though I can hardly find time for reading now. Also, in November, I want to start re-reading The Ring by Koji Sudzuki.

Just finished Salem's Lot, and really enjoyed it. I think I'm going to start an audio book for the weekend, to get chores around the house done while listening. Probably World War Z by Max Brooks, I heard it was good.

    The Dead Zone (almost done)

I'm liking this. I read this when it came out in paperback and have not read it since so I guess it's been 30+ years. This book has hit me with a flood of memories. The book takes place during the entire decade of the 70s, my middle school and high school years. SK used real politicians and history mixed with his fictional characters and tale. In the book, there are many real political & news incidents that I had forgotten about and that made reading the book a little extra interesting for me. I had to laugh about some of the characters worrying that if Ronald Reagan got the nomination over Gerald Ford, it was going to destroy the Republican party. SK didn't just make that up, that was a real topic of discussion in 1976. All the letter writing in this book reminded me that we actually did use to write snail mail letters to people back then because long distance calling was very expensive. I'm just guessing here but if I put it in today's money, a 20 minute (out of state) long distance call was probably $15 - $20. There was even a big deal made in the book about using 1 in front of the number and being able to make a direct long distance call with no operator assistance. Also in the book, kids are drinking legally at their high school graduation party (only had to be 18). Reading this is like going down the rabbit hole.

When I started, I did not remember much about this book but as I was reading, much of it came back to me like I had just read it a few months ago. Some of it was in a "dead zone" but it's pretty amazing how much information your brain has stored once you give it little push.
