Just finished Eyes Of The Dragon, starting Insomia next.

When I last posted 3 weeks ago, I was contemplating starting "The Talisman", which I did. But, right after I got started, the book I had ordered from inter-library loan came in, and I switched to it. That was "The Twenty-Seventh Wife" by Irving Wallace, a biography of Brigham Young's 27th wife, who divorced him. Thanks, again, Dana, for the recommendation. It was a worthwhile read, altogether interesting in that I don't think anybody will ever really know the truth of the matter. Two sides to every story, and in this case, I came away not really sure what to believe! Probably a little bit of truth to both... I've put "TheTalisman" on hold for a bit; have started "Autumn Across America" by Edwin Way Teale, for a little seasonal inspiration. Perfect September reading!

Reading Genital Grinder by Ryan Harding. This book is a really funny (at times) collection of seven short stories. It's also gross as hell and violent, too. Uber-violent. Even Edward Lee said that Harding might be sicker than he is in the intro. Trust me, the title story is the grossest of the bunch (which is really saying something) and I didn't think I could make it through at first (which is also really saying something). But I believe the effort is worth it and the final sentence made me break out laughing.

I recommend it to anyone as demented as I am. And I really do love how he uses his words. He's got some talent. I look forward to seeing what else he will do, if anything.

How right you are. Everybody has a side and a story. We can speculate or use our imagination to fill in blanks and holes, but when it comes right down to it, we don't really know anyone's situation until we walk in their shoes. Thanks again for reading my recommend.

Reading (well, skimming) Edmund White's biography of Genet, called, well, Genet. Kinda cracks me up at times. Cocteau's notes, concerning his first reading of Our Lady Of The Flowers. He says stuff like this: "It's horrible, unpublishable. It should be burned. It's genius. It is. It shall be. It sickens me, disgusts me, but it fascinates me. I hate it, I love it..."

Heh heh, those goofy French writers.
