Over the weekend I finished "Secret Ceremonies" by Deborah Laake. Thanks for the recommendation on this one, Dana Jean. I read her bio on the wikipedia pg. and agree with your assessment of both her and the book. I have no idea, of course, but tend to think she might have had a lot of emotional problems even without the Mormon upbringing. I'm not sure it's fair to blame her relationship difficulties on the religion, although it certainly was a contributing factor. At any rate, I found the book quite enlightening. I also checked our library for "The Twenty Seventh Wife". They do have a copy, but for some reason, it is in the section for rare books, and cannot be taken out of the library, although I can read it there, on premise. Which probably isn't going to happen, so I'll see where else I might be able to come up with a copy. In the meantime, I'm going to return "Secret Ceremonies" today, and will see what I come home with! I'm off to visit my sister in AZ later this week, and will take the Kindle, and hope to start on "Cutting for Stone" which I downloaded a while back. Until later...
