Happy Tuesday to all! Wasn't really sure where to post this ... so, decided to go with a group I think will understand. Quite some time ago, years, I posted that my father bought me a book by Stephen King (even though it wasn't his genre of reading) every year for Christmas.
So, over the weekend, my Dad and I had lunch and spent time together. One of the first things he told me was,"You won't believe the audiobook I'm listening to, while driving, right now." He loves to read and listen to audiobooks ... so, I really wasn't sure; because we talk books, a lot. So, I asked and he answered, "11/22/63." He said, "Though, I wouldn't usually be into a
I asked him not to tell me all the details ... because (and don't throw stones) I haven't read it, yet. However, I will read the book, in due course.
The cool thing, about the conversation, was his reason for enjoying the book. He said the writing took him back to a time he lived through and evoked memories. However, some of the lines in the book allowed him to get back to and recallthe very place and time he lived through, in those years. He mentioned: gas stations, juicy fruit gum, and other iconic mentions, that reminded him exactly of those days and that time period.
I told him that was how I felt about "It". The memories of the last day of school, childhood friends and fears, and more, were so well described. Although, I recall those times ... I might not have remembered them, as well, if I hadn't read the lines written in the book.
Anyhoo, and wow ... I know this is a very long post ... it was a nice conversation. Beyond that ... hope everyone doesn't mind me sharing this story! And hope everyone is doing well, getting better, and has a great week!
Good Morning and a happy Wednesday to all. The week seems to be flying by so fast.
I see some sleepy heads over at bean bag central continuing the reading marathon Fresh round of coffee/ tea for all.
Samantha, I think many of your dad's generation, myself included, had those same feeling of going back to a time and place we so enjoyed.
Chilly here again, but plenty of sunshine. Last day to enjoy the cooler temps, summer returns by the weekend.
May all be well and have a great day with wishes fulfilled.
Off to bean bag central with hot herbal tea in hand. All are welcome to join.
((( all in need or not)))
Good morning! Is everyone enjoying the book? I have only read a few pages, but am planning on diving in headfirst as soon as the kiddos leave for school!
I will have a piece of chocolate cake and a big ole glass of milk, because with this post, I am now Prolific! YAY!! Brought some balloons and streamers with me, just don't mind me crawling all over everything to decorate.
Hello! Happy Wednesday.
I hope everyone is enjoying the new book! I haven't started mine yet, but I plan to later today. (If I can drag myself out of here and get my housework done!)
We've been having really beautiful weather here in Colorado lately. I'm hoping for some rain soon. Watering the grass when it's this dry out gets really expensive!
I hope everyone is having a good week so far.
Sending hugs, love, good vibes, warm thoughts, and whatever else might be needed....
