I thought it was okay but definitely not one my favorite Bachman books. Those are Blaze and Thinner.

I really liked Roadwork, the subject matter, the execution, the attitude. I identified with how the protagonist felt and enjoyed his passion. It may be my favorite Bachman.

My favorite Bachman is The Long Walk, but I thought Road Work was well written and a good read.

And may you have twice the number.

I was just remarking in our Chronological Read Group that this book -- which is next on our list, by the way -- stands out in the catalogue to me because it is so clearly different than most of King's work to that point, and even throughout his career. It's a particular favorite of mine because Bart is so clearly identifiable, and his problems were problems that anyone could recognize and sympathize (if not empathize) with. And, of course, the great beauty of a story like this one is that the "monsters" that we're so used to finding in a King story are simplye every-day people like you and me, who've got problems of their own and can't be bothered to notice Bart fraying around the edges until its way too late.

Yes, everyone is welcome to join us while we read this book in the social group, King Chronological Reading group. The more people we have, the more discussions we'll have...we'll be waiting, but not too long, we will begin soon!
