Under The Dome is, heartbreakingly, one of Stephen King's best. I have just one question...Why did it not enter the thoughts of at least one of the characters, inside or outside the dome, to try to dig UNDER it instead of attempting to crash through it?

I agree that it's one of his best. I was confused at the beginning part of the book as to why they didn't dig, but once it was explained it all cleared up for me. It was a long, but thrilling story. Welcome to the board!

Reminds me of something that was supposed to have been said when an episode of TOS Star Trek was being filmed. "Bones" was standing in the woods and someone said they couldn't see DeForest for the trees.
