Default After finally getting this one, I finished it last night...

Woo, buddy. I just finished Cujo last night and I must say that it was the first time I've ever been truly scared while reading a SK novel. It all seemed so...surreal, I suppose. But even more than a rabid dog killing people, the whole family situation at the Camber's house just struck a chord with me. In fact, I didn't even view this only as a story about a rabid dog but also a story about climbing the economic ladder, what money means to different people, and how it affects their life. How I just worded that sounded pretty crude to how I really feel about it, but anyway, big THUMBS UP for this book!

P.S. Did anyone else consider Cujo to be more than just a dog? I guess I mean that his character is fleshed out really well. I liked knowing what HE thought and how HE felt. He sure was a good dog.

(Sorry. This post might not make a lot of sense. Cujo has just brought out a lot of emotions inside and has intrigued me. Haha)

I only read the first line of your post because Cujo is one of the books on my list to read this year, and I don't want any advance warnings. Sounds promising!

Cujo was nothing more than innocent gallumphing family pet, that turned into a beserker due to the bat bite....now, the "thing in the closet"? That's another story...

    No, it makes perfect sense.

You read the book and were touched in way that made you feel like you had to share it with others.

    You have a point there.

Honestly, the thing in the closet was one of the only things I didn't like in the story. It wasn't fleshed out as well as it could have been IMHO, but I can see why SK would include it.

I think cujo was worth the read but not one of his best. In fact i think it's my least favorite right now. (But still a good read).

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "fleshed out" but if it means what I think it means I'll say this: I think that's the point. You hardly ever see/hear of the monster in the closet coming OUT of the closet. They just lurk in there and scare the pants off of little ones. That's one of the biggest reasons why they are so terrifying.

If, however, that is not what you meant by that then...disregard.

Also, I'm trying to get used to a new keyboard so something happened with what I was originally typing out and I have no idea where it went. So if this appears twice you know why.

It always seemed to me that the monster in the closet and the reference to frank at the start was to fool the reader into thinking this book would have something to do with the supernatural when at the end of the book he uses the monster and frank to make the point that they were monsters but what happened to cujo was natural.

cujo is awesome. I like the fact that he is a dog. Things could happen in real life like that and that was what made it scary to me. I have read the book 5 times. I like it so much, and the fact that no one writes dog scary stories as often, I have written one about a dog. My story was inspired by Cujo. I called it mine "Pepe's Pit." If any one is interesting about dog stories, let me know. I can send it to you. I wrote it because Cujo inspired me so much and there isn't anything else involved with dogs and horror. So I read my own story... haha! Keep in touch.

Isn't this the appeal of Mr. King's writings, real life, gone bad?
