Sex is an underlying theme is Desperation. Remember, for instance, when those two (I apologize, I don't recall the characters' names)--the man and woman find that idol which begins to influence them to become violently sexual with one another? . Spirituality is also a major theme. I think the book is both about what's basest and what's highest in human nature. It contrasts human selfishness with human selflessness.

I love Desperation and have read it a few times but really can't recall Tak being obsessed in this way. Although it is possible I've simply blocked any badgunkysex scenes from my mind...as I have a habit of doing with Uncle Steve's work. If sex is on your mind a lot, you'll notice sex whenever it pops up. A person who hasn't had sex but wants to will see sex everywhere, as will a person who likes sex and wants lots more of it. SK Badgunkysex scene? Don't know what that would be. Sex is good, but remember, all things in moderation. Except when you have time off from work and the kids are not home. Then all bets are off.

Any time King writes about sex it's like bad gunky for me...so they're all badgunkysex scenes. But I know they usually don't last long--they're very quick, in fact--so I just think of England and soldier on.
