Default King's Books Draw You in...

I've been reading Bag of Bones for not even a full day now and have read 125 pages and I have to say that most of the time while I am reading I feel as though I cannot put the book down without feeling as though I am missing something. I feel as though his work draws the reader in so much into the novel that it makes it hard to put the book down even to take a leak! LOL. What are your thoughts?

Keep a copy in the bathroom.

So far, everything Stephen King's written draws me in. An artist captures one's attention. When I say I think it's a talent, I don't mean I think he's unaware of it or that it happens automatically, that he doesn't often sweat bullets getting the job done.

He appeals to me because of his need to connect with his readers. I think his style appeals to those of us not among the intellectual elite. I like the words he uses instead of alternatives. His stories are appealing due to his integrity for them, to his devotion to his own imagination, and to his honor of his mentors.

King has studied his art, and apparently knows what he's doing.

I love the way his books just suck you into them and keep you there. I admit sometimes they start slow (like insomnia) but i swear towards the last 200 pages you forget about the page number on top of the book and you just fly through. I finished IT after reading 3 hours straight from page 800.

    It's simple to say I know but . . .

He's the best, he just is, and it thrills me to say it over and over.

Gotta agree about the hypnotic power of BoB. I still find that novel one of the most compelling, along with Duma Key -- a constant murmur of "read on, read on, read on..."

This seems to happen to me It's one of the reasons I love to read. I usually start and don't stop until the book is finished, because I'm so drawn in that I can't put it down. I have to know what's next and the details are so wonderful it's like my mind just enters into a world that blocks out everything around me. Also, when I get to sit down to read, it means I've found some time to relax and escape the ho hum drone of everyday routine.

There is something in the way he puts his words together. He's only a few years older than me and I know that he "gets" thins from my childhood.

Have yet to find another author who can draw me into a story like Sai King. You become one with those characters. It is as if everything else around you disappears and you become one with the pages.
