Default Stephen King= Sufferer Of Solipsism?

Just out of curiosity, do you think that Stephen King ever suffered solipsism? After reading the chapter about Patrick, I can't help but to think that perhaps King had ever wondered if life was all in his head. I wouldn't be surprised if he ever did.

    Your thoughts?

Most people, with or without a formal education, wonder this at some time in their lives. Human beings, like most creatures, have tunnel vision. This is because survival is about your immediate senses and your interior voice. I'm sure you have heard the saying, "we all are born alone and die alone?" There is even a Native American saying, a philosophy or theology if you like, that says, "the world began when I opened my eyes; it will all end when I close them again." Each and every person is a universe unto themselves. It is only natural to wonder, as we are the center of said universe, if everything else continues after us. That being said, only psychopaths and sociopaths actually believe this notion. It is natural to wonder about it. It is unhinged to believe it.

Solipsism is the philosophical idea that only one's own mind is sure to exist.

...well I know I don't suffer from it, coz this is all there be-'tween my ear-balls...

Ya, I mean I knew he never suffered it or thought he was the only REAL being, but, I wouldn't be surprised if he ever wondered about that theory and it probably scared the crap out of him and at the same time influenced him to write about it.

Well when I was about 9 or10 I suspected that all the people I saw on street, classroom, stores) were really robots and they would activate just before I arrived and just stop where they were when I left the area. (guess it didnt occur to me to wonder why my parents and siblings were real.) I just felt these people didnt have feelings like I did-hurt, love, pain, death, etc. I think I came up with that goofy theory when my sister was diagnosed with leukemia. kids deal with things in strange ways.
