Question about the beams

Hello, first time poster.

I just finished DT7, and, while the book itself was probably the weakest of them all, I thought that the actual ending was perfect.

I do have a question though - so Roland and the ka-tet stop the bear-turtle beam from being destroyed. However weren't the beams already faltering before the Crimson King started his mission to bring them all down?

I thought that if the machinery the old ones used to keep them up was failing, shouldn't the world still be 'moving on' and the Rose that Roland observed as 'better' still be 'sick'?

I was thinking the beams would re-juvenate themselves when they stopped being destroyed, but I could be remembering this totally incorrectly.

The machinations that had been overwhelming and helping to destroy the beams for centuries (breaker) have been shut down and sent on their way. Now that they are no longer actively trying to bring the beams down, the beams can spend the next many eons healing themselves and reconnecting everything to everything else. Ka is a wheel, this includes the beams.
