Default How long does it take until this story starts to take off?

These days I read all my books on my Kindle. So far I'm about 11 percent of the way through Bag of Bones, and man, the story is a draggin. At this point I'm where Mikes arrives at Sarah Laughs. Is this story going to pick up and get going from this point on? I don't know how much longer I can wait for this thing to grab my interest.

Read on, you are in for a rollercoaster ride of suspense, mystery and "happenings".

Bag of Bones dragging? Hate to disagree with you pard, but that is one of Mr. King's best far as I'm concerned....

I was the same way. It did take a little bit longer for me to get into Bag of Bones than it usually does with a King story but it was worth it, for me, to keep pushing through it. Hang in there!

It's worth the wait. You need the back story to understand what happens at Sara Laughs.

I didn't have a problem getting into the book, but wasn't thrilled with it when I read it the first time. I couldn't understand why my wife was saying it was so great. I finally gave it a re-read (I don't remember how many years later) and the second half of the book was like I'd never read it before. It was like having a new SK book. And yes, I really liked it. Keep going with it, it's good.

I think what bothers me the most is how slooow the story is moving along right now because the main character is moving along at a snails pace in his life during the 4 years since his wife died . What I've read so far feels like trudging through heavy snow for several miles. Despite Mike's wacky dreams , nothing has happened yet of any real significance that has grabbed my attention. Usually by now, in reading a SK book, I'm pretty much caught up in it and turning the pages with anticipation. I hope this starts real soon or I'll be moving onto something else.

Bag Of Bones is in my top 5 SK books. Yes, it does move slow. It's supposed to. Bag Of Bones is SK's homage to 'Rebecca' by Daphne De Muir(?) which was a best-selling gothic romance at heart. What SK attempts in this novel is to immerse you in the setting/story/characters before giving you any of the 'ooga-booga' stuff. Remember, it is a love story first and foremost, albeit a haunted one. And a tragic one. I would hope that by the time you finish it that it will have touched you (as it has most of us) and will become one of your favorite SK books too. Keep reading, things will pick up soon.
