Eddie's reference to Michigan

Just finished the DT series and have a question from The Drawing of Three. There is one point where Eddie is scared and thinks he'll never see Michigan again. Since I'm from Michigan I picked this up thinking there would be more but it's the only reference I recall. I borrowed all the books but remember double checking this line in the book. Just curious on this. I must say that Eddie's one liners drew my interest to the finish the whole series.

Eddie says, "Michigan seems like a dream to me now." It's a lyric from a Simon and Garfunkel song titled America. I think he is does not mean Michigan exactly, but his home, America, in general.
