Hi I am your biggest fan ! " he he " and since were talking about Misery and annie bates, I know that you spent a lot of time in Estes Park
and Allenspark. So have I ,and I have always thought that perhaps the character of Annie Bates may have been inspired by
Muriel Macgregor. Anyone who has lived in Estes Park knows about Muriel. Crazy as a shithouse rat to put it in your words.
She thought that her deceased parents have come back as cattle but didn't know which cow they embodied. I passed her in
town one day in her pick up truck with a ripe decaying cow in the back bed of her truck. with a crazed look in her eyes and hair that probably hadn't been washed or combed in the last year or so she stunk up the whole downtown.
My husband actually hit one of her cattle that had strayed on to the highway. The cow was ok but he was hurt. But muriel
wanted to take him to court and try him for attempted murder.
I hope this gets to you Steve. I'd really like a reply. I have a ton more Muriel stories
