Neither did it bother me, but maybe it can be corrected in another edition.
Actually, I found that it is rather suitable for a book with a main character that's a teacher, correcting papers!
And of course, "If there's love, smallpoxs scars are as pretty as dimples"...
I think that counts for books too.
