I am new to all of this (including posting a comment on an author's website) and I can see right away that most of what I would say has already been said.
I had not read Mr. King before as not a fan of anything scary/weird, etc. but a friend gave me the hardcover of 11/22/63 a few months ago and having lived through the assassination (I was 19 years old) I was completely transfixed at the back dust cover with the reverse news flash that he lived. I don't recall ever even thinking about that and was immediately caught up at the idea.
I started reading and could not put it down - in addition to the amazingly imaginative plot, time travel portal and all, it was like reliving that whole period, clothes, music, books, etc.. All I could say at the end was "Wow, what a great writer he is," ....... the understatement of all.
I have just finished "On Writing" and while I have no interest in becoming a writer, I enjoyed learning about his past and reading his comments on the writing process.
I guess he will never see all these comments but it is nice to share with others who enjoyed it also. (-:
