Out of Order?

I am currently reading Rose Madder, my wife bought it for me in 2001. Great so far, but after pg 182 my book starts at pg 119 again and continues thru 148 then skips to 215... wtf? Obviously an error made by Viking. just wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

Hi, welcome! Keep posting in order to gain more access to the site.

I'm a regular member here. You have a copy with obvious printing flaws. If you can manage to continue reading by keeping up with them I encourage you to do so in order to finish. If it's too confusing that way, check out used books online for a better copy. They're fairly inexpensive.

Yes, others have had similar problems, not only with Rose Madder, but I assume with infrequency.

I typically lose sight of the page numbers once I start to get into a book. But I feel like I would easily notice the interruption of story flow if this were the case with my copy. I'm going to have to go check it out when I get home.

This happened with my copy of Justin Cronin's "The Passage." I would read a couple of pages and they would be duplicated again, the story would get back on track, then those pages would be duplicated. Arrrggghhh! Was very frustrating and I temporarily lost the flow of the story, but I managed to persevere and luckily the problem didn't last long. Maybe try and find another copy to read, either via the library or second hand. I picked up a US first edition of Rose Madder the other day for the equivalent of $5. Bargain.
