    Default I Loved this book

I read this book in one sitting and it really touched me. Maybe having been a child of the 60's and seeing it from both sides (my older brother served in Viet Nam and I protested the war. We had some fun family get togethers!) is the reason this book spoke to me the way it did. I think this is one of Sai Kings that will always be a re-read for me.

Agreed! I was born in 1960 and Hearts in Atlantis opened my eyes to a side of the anti-war protests of the 60's I hadn't seen before. The whole book was great, but I especially liked the title novella. I think the movie would've been better if it had been of that section instead of Low Men in Yellow Coats. I'd still love to see a movie made of that semester in the dorms and the early Vietnam protests.

Of course it will always be a first read for me, and now a re-read, and an ongoing continual read as well!!

    Thankee for sharing.

Part of Uncle Steve's greatness is his ability to touch all of us in some profound way in all of his novels...

I just re-read this one. It's definitely one of my favourites. Funnily, I was looking for this thread under Novels and was frustrated that it wasn't there. I've never thought of this book as one of the collections because all of the stories are linked. I think Anthony Hopkins was a great casting for Ted Brautigan, but if the movie wasn't about the second section, why did they call it Hearts in Atlantis? I've never seen the movie (obviously). They always ruin the story for me by changing details that are important to the readers but wouldn't be anymore expensive to shoot the correct way.

The fact that I kind of forgot about this one means that I need to re-read it after 11/22/63.
