Duma Key is one of my favorites, along with Hearts in Atlantis,Liseys Story, and ofcourse most of SK's books. I'll share a moment about my reading choices here if you dont mind-I had a hearing to attend awhile back for disability. The Judge had to ask me a few questions when I admitted I still read. (I'd had a massive stroke & was paralyzed on left side at the time.)He was well aware that most stroke victims have difficulty reading & doing numbers, which I admitted , then he asked if I could recall what I had read ofcourse I couldnt so I admitted that my memory was real sketchy but told him I loved SK's books because I could open one at random & find something very descriptively written. Like a firld of gorgious red roses or fog creeping stealthly across an old cemetery. The Judge nodded, smiled and said I had answered enough to allow him to come to a decision...I was awarded my disability right away. He understood what I was trying to express. Now how many authors can transport you into another world simply by typing a few words? IMHO, not that many. Thats why I treasure our Stephen King and his wonderful ability to describe even something so fragile as a single rose in a vacant junky lot. :-)
