Question Best way back to The Dark Tower

Hi all, I'm a long-time King reader but also long time lapsed. I got as far as halfway through Wizard and Glass many years back; I've got all the subsequent books gathering dust on a shelf.

I've recently started reading more thanks to the wonders of Kindle (makes it so much easier to read massive novels on my commute) and I'd like to get back to the journey to the Dark Tower.

I'd be really grateful for some opinions. Should I start the journey from scratch again with The Gunslinger or try and pick up where I left off? I have some vague recollections about the first 3 books, but vague is all they are right now. I also have some other books I've not read yet (Dreamcatcher, Bag of Bones, Black House, Hearts in Atlantis). Will it matter what order I read them in as I know some of them have DT connections.

Thanks for any advice. I'm looking forward to this ...

If it were me, I would start back at the beginning. If you only have vague recollections, you might miss a lot. I didn't find that it mattered much in what order I read the rest of the books that have connections to DT, but others might disagree with that.

    Tell God thankya

As someone currently enjoying my 3rd journey to the Dark Tower, I would suggest finding the audiobooks (possibly available for free through your library network) to get yourself back to speed. It's a whole new experience!

    Hi,

Like you, I had years between W&G and Wolves and it was fine.

But then it made me want to start at the beginning again and re-read it right through.

    Ka is a wheel.

    Which was GREAT!

So i'd just start with Wolves of the Calla if I were you.

Good readng whatever you decide (you will), let us know your decision.

    Long dasys and pleasant nights

If you pace yourself, you can finish them up just in time for the release of The Wind Through the Keyhole on April 24, 2012.

sorry I believe you should follow the path as it was laid out: first book, second, third, etc. you will miss much in explanation/understandering of the story if you skip. And why skip?? Roland suffers so horribly, you know you've GOT to find out why! Start your journey at the beginning and chase that dark man as he flees across the desert. Theres plenty of room with Roland and he might teach you to never forget the face of your father....lol
O how I wish this had been made into a ps game...

Reboot. Remembering halfway is annoying. Happy travels!

Do whichever of the two you feel like doing; in matters like that, I tend to just go with what my gut seems to be telling me.

By all means, begin anew the pursuit of the man in black with Roland-don't try to recollect! To borrow and bastardize from Doyle-"Quick, Stevhill-the game is afoot!"
