Default Mr. King, I cried at page 269, last paragraph...

Powerful words, my reaction was a surprise, i cried without warning, a stream of water. Thank you, sir, and may God continue to be with you and your family. After reading On Writing I'm going to venture into your fiction, a new genre for me, and i am afraid of horror completely. I need to try to overcome my fears.

Oh, you don't need to be a bit afraid.

    Trust me on this one.

    Thanks so much for sharing.

On Writing was my first Stephen King book as well. If you don't like horror, I'd suggest some of his non-horror works like Different Seasons (four novellas including "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" and "The Body" (which was made into the movie "Stand by Me") or The Green Mile. I'd consider some of his better works to be more suspense than horror (Misery in particular).
After you jump into King Stream, you'll find the water is just fine.

Take our hands, and we'll wade into the dream pool together...it's a journey of imaginative immersion-like no other, in this or any other worlds.....

Nothing to fear Reneep - dsurrett gave you great advice on where to start...I think you will be pleasantly surprised! Most who think of King's stories as strictly horror are. Keep posting - glad to have you on the board!
