    pardon me for seeking outside help. i wasnt asking for someone to write my paper, i knew the main themes myself. However asking people might give me a broader view on it... the paper is done regardless so it isn't of relevance anymore. Not everyone is lazy you know

    When I was younger, I used to wish that he would do a sequel to The Stand but now that I am older, I think leaving it as a stand-alone is a better idea. I do think King has the imagination, talent, and creativity to do the sequel but I'm guessing he feels it is better to leave well enough alone.

    Since this is an old thread and your paper is already done, I'm a bit late to the party. Still want to toss in my two cents, though.

    To me one of the most prominent (and horrifying) themes is expressed in the "Second Coming" Yeats poem by referenced by Starkey: "Things fall apart, the center cannot hold". The speed at which society deteriorates is the same whether we see it through Larry's eyes in NYC or through Nick's eyes in Shoyo. And it's equally scary in both cases.

    Makes me think, "What if...?
