I think it is time to skedaddle. Happy Birthday, Sai King. Hearts in Atlantis was one reason why I came to the board, back in January of 2007. Not being thanked is one reason why I have left, yet again.

Hmm... maybe that's why John is now my favorite Beatle instead of Paul.
If you'd like more of that, you might try American Pastoral by Philip Roth.

    We all float down here.

I just streamed the movie from Netflix with my wife last week. She enjoyed it and so did I but its so hard to watch without all the stories from the book.

Not to be rude, but asking honestly: why would/should anyone thank you for being here?

My favorite Beatle is Pete Best, 'cause I figure he really needs all the affection he can get.

Ok I finally finished it....wow. This ranks right up there for me, I loved the dark tower references and how all of the stories connected. It was worth the initial frustration.

Even watched the movie with my girlfriend, and while I thought it was pretty good as far as a King story > movie goes I got blind sided with a question: "why are those guys after him?"

I realized that without benefit of her being a long time fan, never read a Dark Tower book let alone this one I was at a complete loss for words. Seriously, how do you explain that? I just said "He has abilities they find valuable" and left it at that. Trying to explain the beam and breakers and everything in between might have given me an migraine.

I actually put this book down twice before I picked it up for the 3rd time and finished it straight through to the end.
It's definitely more rewarding when the scope of everything fits into place.

I didn't find this book frustrating at all! I loved the whole thing the first time I read it.

Same here. Flew through it the first time, and read it a few times since...amazing characters. It's high on my list of favourite King stories.
