Cribbage?

New to the forums so maybe this has been covered.. but whenever I think of the use of 19 I think of my grandmother happily yelling it out as she counted my kitty's big fat nada. It's been driving me crazy so even though I am likely asking this question to a void, does anyone know what the impetus for 19 was?

I've just gotten to Song of Susannah after years of having it in a box somewhere so don't ruin anything! Spoiler alerts not welcome! Although I doubt some cribbage board wielding mutie is waiting for me in book 6 or 7..

Also - the only time I've seen 'Hedda' in print was in this book. It's my nickname. Grandmothers from Germany aren't the best with that soft 'th' in the middle of my name.. glad I was rescued and not breaker fodder.

Hi, Heather! Welcome to the board! Before attempting an answer I have a couple of questions of my own :

1. (Per GNT above) my kitty's big fat nada. If you tell me "kitty" is a Cribbage term, or that you own a perhaps larger than necessary feline, my first question will be satisfied.

2. I am likely asking this question to a void. To avoid what, dear? We're here to listen.

3. don't ruin anything! Spoiler alerts not welcome!. Hence, a void might result.

Personally, I suspect 19 has something to do with his room at The Timberline Lodge. But that's just me, as is this post.
