Question about Roland

I have a really quick hopefully easy question. I am currently reading book 5 of the dark tower a few chapters in, there have been a few instances where Roland has had pains in his right hip, one being while he is observing Susannah (mia) going crazy in the swamp eating frogs and fish among other things. When he goes to stand up it is mentioned that his right hip is paining him.

I can't recall reading anything about Roland injuring his hip, so my question is have I missed or forgotten something? Or is this elaborated on in future chapters?
