Default Why it is the best ...

    Hello there,

Just wanted to join the praises for this great book.

I guess that the thing I love the most about the book is that its written by a guy who is "in the trenches" - sooo many books on creative writing are written by "scholars" who has no, or very few, published works behind him/her.
This however, is a work from a master who knows ... And he is not writing it for a quick buck, but from (I feel) a genuine wish to help others - not by glorifying the craft but by emphasizing the work - thats something I find very inspiring: You have to put in the work!

Brain science suggests that you only become very good at a craft (any craft) after putting more than 10.000 hours in - so get writing!

    Best regards

    Hi,

Yes, indeed, I couldn't agree more.

I look forward to the day when it's required reading in high schools everywhere.

    Long days and pleasant nights

There's the old chestnut out there that goes something like "Those that can't do, teach"...well, King most certainly "can do", and he teaches well too...

One thing I took from the book that impressed me was how much he reads every year. It's logical that you can't really expect to be a good writer if you don't also read a lot. It would be like trying to be an executive chef at a four star restaurant if all you ever ate was fast food.

I am about 70 pages in and I'm enjoying it so far. His tales of him growing up with his brother are quite entertaining to read. His biographical information that he weaves into "On Writing" is almost a meta-novel within this book. Haha

I absolutely LOVE this book. I must've read it around 6 or 7 times so far.
I actually enjoy the biography portions of the book over the writing advice.
