Default Which Character Do You Most Relate With?

    Just as the question asks.

For me it's probably Harold Lauder, in all honesty. The kid that was always treated like crap in a pre-flu society, the kid that reminded everyone else that someone is always keeping score even when you think they're not. And then he gets used and dropped like a sack of potatoes. I mean...c'mon...in some way or another we can all relate to that.

(Please use spoiler tags if necessary...I've still got 100 pages to go, and even though I've seen the miniseries - damnit - I've forced myself to forget enough of it to be surprised.)

As I've said before...Tom Cullen-"Laws yes!"...his "simple minded" love of little things, mirrors my own heart(just don't tell anyone, it'll blow my sarcastic persona right outta da water)...

The Gunslinger. Not in looks or anything, but in mind set. Troubled, torn most of the time, paranoid, keep my own counsel for the most part, always looking around the next corner for trouble and not being able to enjoy where I'm at or what I'm doing....

Harold Lauder. I'll explain why when I'm not typing on my iPod's keyboard.

P.S. Just finished The Stand a couple of hours ago!

Funny that I actually meant to say Stu Redman, but Larry's pretty ok too.

It has to be Larry Underwood. I think that's true of a lot of readers. Larry started his journey beset with a plethora of character flaws, struggled with his demons, and made the long and torturous journey from darkness into light. There's a lot in him that most of us can relate to.

Alright folks... I promised you guys a little while back that I would explain why I feel that I relate most with Harold. Well, I forgot. But I remembered!

I relate with Harold for many reasons. Age is the most obvious one - I am sixteen as he was. Beyond physical description (which, I'll admit was kind of creepy in some areas because of how similar it was... but I'm not *as* fat as he was :P), I am the type of kid that's really quiet, and no one notices me. Some people think I'm weird I'm sure, I'm not well-known at school really, but eh, haha. This isn't a pity party, I'm just explaining the similarities.

Anyway, I used to write a lot. Most of it was weird stuff (mostly poetry) that I am ashamed of now, but that was me 1 1/2 - 2 years ago. Iunno. I just see Harold as being this really awkward 16-year old that wants to, ya know, fit in, but he was too different and I see myself in the same light sometimes. I think it's kind of a tragedy, Harold's death. I honestly didn't see it coming. I believe that Harold had good in him, and he could have put his abnormalities to good use and be a good leader. What happened to him was heart-breaking. He shouldn't have let himself be lead around by others. He should have taken charge of his own life.

Sorry, that was partly my answering the question and partly my opinion of Harold Lauder.
