Regarding the farmer with the long red hair and the lamb-slaughterer's eyes who stood at the intersection of Silk Ranch Road and the Great Highway:
I'm wondering if Mr. King, in his journeys across US 50 (which is also referenced in The Dark Tower, and which was, at one time, known as "The Highway") came across the entrance to Silk Ranch in Williamsburg, KS and the historical marker which is placed there. I'm wondering if Mr. King knew that although it is now a cattle ranch, the original Silk Ranch (late 1860's-late 1880's) was a silk-producer, organized along the lines of a Fournier-style utopian commune; and that it's manager, Charles Sears, had a most penetrating gaze and, I believe, fiery-red hair.
A very interesting place, and a very interesting person.
I'm wondering if Mr. King knew these things. Or is it just a case of "cosmic consciousness"?
