    Default The Original Cover

I was thinking about buying a first edition of The Shining for the upcoming booksigning at George Mason. But the cover reminds me of something more suitable for Payton Place. Kind of funny. Not one of the better looking examples. The paperback editions had much nicer covers. I may still do it anyway because it's my favorite of the King books.

If this is the one you're referencing, I agree it's a bit "romance novelish" looking-but not THAT bad...

Yes, the fellow on the front looks a bit like Norman Bates. I can only imagine the discussion that went on among the PR guys who designed this one.

I finally got hold of a decent condition first edition. They are few and far between and expensive. Hoping to get the man himself to sign it in Savannah. Then I will have to worry the rest of my life about anything happening to it! A real treasure. My favorite of his books and the movie is a classic. Funny how some of his earlier books seem so small in comparison to the recent tomes. Now I just need that signing ticket.
