I have to agree with SharonC. I enjoyed The Black House very much. I loved the bikers the best. I read Talisman long time ago and got The Black House when it came out many years later, so had forgotten a lot about Talisman. I went back to re read Talisman and I think I liked Black House better. Possibly because more of it took place in this world. But thats just me.

I must say I LOVE this book so, so much and am sorry that it sat so long on my shelf without being read. This will probably shock some but I had a harder time (overall) with The Talisman and although I like them both, I love BLACK HOUSE. I believe this really just let Jack Sawyer's true character and goodness shine through. It is one of those books that I read when I need a lift to remind of the 'goodness' in this world (i.e. Jack Sawyer, Beezer, Doc)

The Talisman is one of my all time favorite books and it left a hole in my heart when it ended. So I was very happy to start Black House. Obviously it's not the same but it was nice to see Jack Sawyer again. That being said I thought Black House was great! Yes the violence on the children is hard to take in. It always is, but I don't the the rewards would be as great as they end up being if it didn't have that element.

What I struggle with is the point of view of the narrator. Is it first person or third person or what the heck . I can honestly say that I haven't picked this one up again for another try but I might soon, I think.

Rats... Almost everybody so much praise The Talisman, and I skipped it because "Black house" was the first that came to my hands... I must read it again, after reading The Talisman! Anyway, the book is really great, mainly due to massive positivity and optimism that shines from the author through his main characters - regardless of all the dark things happening.

Me too, but I have it with me. I found it the other day when I was straightening up things (read: books) on my nightstand. I'm in the middle of re-reading Swan Song by Robert McCammon, but I think I will put Black House next on my list.

I have my thoughts about DT connections. I always thought Jack and Jake were Twiners. Eddie and Bert could be.

Not to hijack the thread but, how is Swan Song? I attempted to read it but couldn't get more than 100 pages in. If you are on a re-read its probably pretty good?
