My guess, there's no scarcity of these books on the market-hence the secondary prices are dirt cheap...

The King Universe is so vast, some occurrences in it defy understanding.

I picked up a couple of SK books this weekend at our library's used book sale for $1 each. I got FEAST OF FEAR, conversations with Stephen King, that I had not read. Saving that one for a rainy day.

I got a '78 hardback The Stand on ebay for 1.00 plus 3.99 shipping last week. I am so!! happy to have another '78 copy. Ebay is full of King books, if one does not have access to a bargain book store.

wow...even USED i don't know that I've ever seen a hardcover book for less than like $5...in fact, i bought quite a few of my king books used (Lisey's Story, Black House, Gerald's Game, Rose Madder, Dolores Claiborne, Expanded Stand, Needful Things, Cujo, Christine, Misery, Tommyknockers, Insomnia, Just After Sunset) and NONE of them were under $5...I paid between $5 and $10 for every one of them.

In a situation like yours, I wouldn't ask...I'd just pay and enjoy!

Something I've always loved doing has been giving away copies of my favorite books to friends and colleagues. One of my favorite hobbies is to buy used sK books--some of them, especially the hardbacks, are in pristine condition--for this purpose; only difference I haven't read all of his works, yet. If any member wishes to try to win free copies of sK books, s/he can play to win the WEW (Wicked Easy Wednesday) contests held every week at this link...

I'm sure that there is a rumbling at the top of the tower, The Master can't be happy to see so much of his work go by without the required tariff.
