Default Similarities between "Dark Tower" and "Eyes of the Dragon"

I noticed a lot of similarities between The Dark Tower series and the book Eyes of the Dragon. Specifically, EotD is set in the kingdom of Delain; the new queen is from the poor Western Barony; the king is named Roland; and the evil wizard is named Flagg. In case you're confused, the Gunslinger is from the Kingdom of Delain; Susan (the girl the Gunslinger loves) is from the very poor Western Barony; the Gunslinger's name is Roland; and in book four, Marten (the evil wizard) changes his name to Flagg, a name he's gone by before.

My question is actually two for discussion. Has anyone else noticed this? And does anyone know if this is intentional?

    Yes, it's intentional.

Add another to the re-read list. I read Eyes a while ago, and while I knew it was connected to the Tower, I hadn't yet joined Roland on his quest. Now that I've finished the quest, it will be interesting to read Eyes of the Dragon and pick up everything I missed the first time.

I'm beginning to think that the best way to read King is to read everything he has written, except the Dark Tower. Then read the Dark Tower, then read everything again. All of the works that are connected to the Tower will be vastly different pre and post Roland, methinks. Not to mention (huge DT spoiler; do not open if you haven't finished the quest) by the time you get back to the Tower, maybe things will be different this time around.

    Long days and pleasant nights.

....and there's a Tower in both books too!
