Default Coheed and Cambria and The Dark Tower

Is anybody else here a fan of the rock band Coheed and Cambria? I can't help but notice a major similarity between their music and the Dark Tower books. In fact, they have stated in interviews that they are inspired in part by the books. I personally think their music would be amazing in the movies! Check out some of the lyrics to their songs, especially the album "No World for Tomorrow". The songs The Reaping, Justice in Murder, No World for Tomorrow and Gravemakers and Gunslingers in particular remind me of the books. Anybody else agree? Their music is awesome and it's fun to listen and pick out the references :-)

Thanks for the tip! Will have to look for CD's...since they don't make eight tracks anymore(damn waste of a fine piece of audio equipment!)

I'd recommend previewing those songs on iTunes. I think you will hear the simiarities to the books right away

I don't know about Coheed and Cambria, but Demons and Wizards has an entire album called "Touched by the Crimson King" and at least three of the songs are DIRECTLY influenced by The Dark Tower (Crimson King, Terror Train, and The Gunslinger) and there are others that could be taken that way as well (Seize the Day, Love's Tragedy Asunder, Wicked Witch, Spatial Architects) but those first three are AWESOME, especially Terror Train - it captures Blaine PERFECTLY.

I think that if they could, they could do most of the soundtrack. how bad ass would it be to see Roland the Gunslinger riding on his horse with "Welcome Home" playing in the background?

I'd much, much, MUCH rather have a REAL composer like Hans Zimmer or Clint Mansell. MUCH. MUCH. MUCH.

"Welcome Home" would be epic to hear as we see Roland riding or in battle! I would also love to hear "Justice in Murder" played during scenes of intense action and shootouts. Or "Pearl of the Stars" played for Roland and Susan. I do wish they could be on the soundtrack. People may think that bands couldn't pull off doing the score for a movie, but look at what Trent Reznor (from Nine Inch Nails) did for The Social Network. I believe he even won the Oscar for best original score! It could work!

As you can probably guess from my username I am a big fan of coheed & cambria and I love the fact that the lyrics can be interpreted as pertaining to the dark tower while still telling Claudio Sanchez's own epic space opera The Amory Wars, (which by the way if anyone Is a fan of graphic novels, please check them out) and I also see a lot of other influences from other si-fi and fantasy works in the lyrics also.

As far as Coheed being on a dark tower soundtrack that would definitely be cool however I think The Amory Wars should be made into films in their own right to go with each album. As Coheed have completed their 5 album saga, I would love to see them make original material - maybe for The Dark Tower movie/series - Claudio is a genius and they could definitely pull it off!

'we'll keep marching to the top of this tower as god isn't at home, no, there's nothing in the way that could stop us, it's your time to go.'
