    Cell is a good choice.
I also read my first SK book when I was about 13, it was The Shinning. And it turned out to be very good for me, I became a huge fan of his books. I am not sure if this can work the same for others, but for me The Shinning was obviously the right choice.

I also started reading King as soon as "Carrie" came out and I would have been 9 and have been a fan since-I think it might depend on the maturity level of the person. I loved the "Talisman" recommendation-that was a GREAT one!!! I don't have kids so not 100% sure I'd start a kid w/"Carrie" but "Talisman" is a great bet! As fushingfeef says, there's some explicit language in "Christine" but I only specifically remember the one line w/the old man who sells the car and his remark on the smell of cars and the other. (I'm chatty this am-I'm up @ 5 am w/arthritic knees and on my 3rd tea mug-sorry to babble on!)
