After reading Duma Key did any of you feel like drawing?
Nope. Quite the opposite--I'm avoiding drawing.
No...but I did feel like writing. Heh heh! Those How to Draw a Picture chapters apply to the art of filling any white page/canvas, the way I look at it.
Kaincidentally, I had just started a painting when I started reading Duma Key. Also, I've been a Salvador Dali--who's mentioned in the book--fan since teenhood. Consequently, DK touched me in a personal way.
I think Steve's description of a painting process, combined with his imagery, is actually an excellent place for people to start who want to try their artistic hand.
I did....I also made myself drive VERY carefully for a while.
Hi,
Yes.
But it quickly passed.
Long days and pleasant nights
No, but I felt like avoiding the Keys...
I think some would be inspired. I found myself envisioning what some of "Edgars paintings/drawings" might have looked like. The descriptions were so detailed and vivid, I have caught myself wondering if there was a sketch in the book, cause it seemed so THERE. I dont know howelse to explain it. Glad to hear that thought had indeed crossed someone elses mind though!
No, but it did make me want to live on one of the smaller Florida Keys.
