John - 20 days? Did you even get up to eat??
I read the first couple when they came out (or thereabouts) then waited until it was done, and read the whole thing nonstop in, like, three weeks. Man, that's a trip, like downloading the series directly into your brain. My eyes would get blurry, and I'd see shadows behind the letters, could hear the characters voices echoing in my skull...I felt like Ginsberg having his William Blake visions...
'Twas a reading experience like no other.
I did a complete re-read ( certainly not in 20 days) after book 7 came out. When I got to book 7, I didn't want to read more beacuse,1) I knew that most if not all of the folks I had come to know and love would die,and 2) I just didn't want it to end. Is a great collection, can't wait till the new installment.
It's hard not to just pick it up again. I felt a sense of loss after finishing the last book. The characters were with me so much I was sad that there wasn't any more to read. I'm planning on reading it from start to finish again beginning in the fall. Can't beat John's time of 20 days. That has to be close to a record. Anyone read the whole series faster than that?
It took a year for me to read the whole series. But I read other books between DT and then I had to wait for the last book because I order it and had to wait for it to come. But I like the series very much and probably return back to Roland's world someday.
Read the journey as it was published. Re- read for the first time with a friend long distance. Have re read it a few more times since. A few months ago, I took the journey via audiobooks. What an experience.
John, you are a speed reader!
Spidey - how did listening to the books compare to reading them?I took the journey via audiobooks.
