Default Question about the comic series Treachery

Haven't read the original Gunslinger book but I will soon, my question is was Aileen mentioned in the Gunslinger as Roland's lover? If so, why did they change that in the comics?

She is a character only obliquely mentioned in novel form...but in the "comic" version-they chose to flesh out the character with clues given from the novel-and I don't think they were ever truly "lovers" but Roland did care for her and she seemed smitten with him...

I actually like Aileen thanks to the comics. It's just weird that I keep reading that Roland took Aileen as his first lover in the original Gunslinger but then in the revised one, the one I read she is just mentioned as someone who his parents wanted to marry. Thanks.
