To reply to your thoughts about Eddie, Jake, and even Oy dying, yes I was sad too, but I think that they may have been necessary in this trip around (though not for the same reasons that you posted). If one is to accept the fact that Roland keeps going through his journey to the Tower, then maybe he learns about life along the way (subconsciously of course). That is to say in early trips he has let them die sooner, then in middle trips he tries to keep them, in the trip we read about he almost saves them (they last until book 7) and maybe in his next try[p they will survive. What I am trying to convey is that when he can finally save them and the Tower and overcome his obsession with said Tower, then he will finally be redeemed.

I was curious as to if on his new journey he would draw the same ka-tet. Will he be injured on the beach and once again draw Eddie, Susannah, Jake and Oy and be their Dihn? Or would his next journey have a different group of people?

Why didn't Susannah have Patrick draw her with a set of legs?

If Roland finally is redeemed and learns from his mistakes and "cry's off" the tower, will he finally be able to find happiness? Perhaps with Susan and his child?

I'm not going to lie, the end was perfect for the series, considering Roland's obsession with the tower. However, I was not happy with the outcome just as I was upset with the ending of 11/22/63. After all his suffering and loss I was hoping Roland would at least find peace.

His editor suggested this to Stephen but he hated the idea as he thought it was too much of a "happily ever after" kind of solution.

Wow, thanks for that tid bit Ms. M. For what it's worth, I don't like that idea either.

I would have hated that idea too. Sai King doesn't do happy ever after and it would have been so out of character for him to do it here. It would not have sounded true; and as we all know, he insists on telling the truth within his fiction.

And may you have twice the number.

Yeah, might as well draw the missing fingers back on Rolands hand.

I hope morley has mellowed somewhat on the subject of Roland. In Deperation, sai King said something that struck a cord with me. (and I probably won't get this right, word for word!) "Sometimes God is cruel, he lets us live." Say true!

I sensed impending death of the ka-tet when Pere Callahan died. The "deaths" of Pere, Jake, Eddie and Oy didn't bother me much because death doesn't bother me much. I'm a firm believer that we just go somewhere else when the physical body this world associates us with dies. And besides, Stephen doesn't really kill good people off... he just renders them again in a different venue
