    Default Forewords

Does anyone else enjoy all the forewords in The Masters books as much as I do? I started a re-read of Night Shift and found the foreword a really great read. In it SK states that no one reads the foreword but family, editors and others involved with the publishing of the book. Dear Master, you are so, so wrong. I know that the short story collections will have some commentary, either at the beginning or the end, that will be just as entertaining as the rest. It gives us constants just a little insight.

By the way, Night Shift is still awesome.

Forewords are a must read. Love the tid bits that Sai King gives to us. Include me in those who read forewords.

Like the stories themselves, the forewords and afterwords are a mixed bag. Personally, I enjoy the glimpses into the how's and the where's and the when's of each storie's particular genesis much more than, say . . . for instance, the political cheap-shotting and outright marketing falsehood that accompanied Full Dark, No Stars . . . but nobody is perfect, and as much as we like the wind at our back, I think it it's important to feel it blowing in our faces once in while, lest we forget what the wind actually is.

    Hi,

I totally agree on ALL counts, the very first thing I read of Sai King's was that superb foreword to Night Shift, marvellous, isn't it?

And Night Shift (on publication) was the introduction to King for my father and my mother, my wife and (much later) both of my children as well.

So it's fairly safe to say that I like it LOL - yup, it's awesome!

I think a colllected edition of his forwards etc would be a great thing.

    Long days and pleasant nights

Forewords and afterwords are not to be missed in SK books. I always read, and enjoy re-reading, them.

I have to say that I am disappointed if there isn't a foreward or an afterward. I can't remember which one it was but there was a foreward in one of the books that talked about fear. Yup, I was scared before I even started the story! Damn, now I need to go figure out which book that was

Another good foreword was the Skeleton Crew foreword.I like Mr.King's simile of how kisses are like short stories and novels are like affairs. That foreword was the very first thing I read of King.
