    Default Which One First ?

I've read both Desperation and The Regulators years ago but I wanted to get everyone's opinion as to which one should be read first if I decided to re-read them both back to back ?

It really doesn't matter but most people find it easier to read Desperation first.

    Hi,

    I agree.

The Regulators has some possible spoilers for Desperation but not the other way round.

    Enjoy (you will!)

I read the Regulators first and was a little disappointed with Desperation. I am doing a re-read soon and am going to try Desperation first to see if I enjoy it more if I read it first.

As Ms. Mod sayeth....the whole premise is served better in that order, at least for me it was...I read it the other way the first time, then for the re-read-I turned the books right side up and read 'em in the other order...Much Better!!!

Might just be because I read them in that order, but I think having the understanding of Tak that Desperation gives makes it easier to understand The Regulators. Might also be because Steve wrote Desperation first.

I happened to read Desperation before ever hearing of The Regulators and am glad for it for a number of reasons, the main ones being I was glad to see Collie Entragian as a good guy, and I understood better who Tak is that way. .

Each novel is stand-alone, Regulators is not a sequel, but a timeline, for lack of a better word (maybe spacetimeline), works better with Desperation first, I think.

I read Regulators first, then Desperation a few years later.
Just couldnt get in to Desperation right after Regulators.
Both were excellent as stand-alone novels.
Thought Desperation was better of the two.
    Would recommend Desperation first though.

I read Desperation then Regulators and it worked out well. There was a lot of detail and backstory in Desperation, so when I read Regulators, I already knew everything going on, so I breezed through it.
