According to "Dread Central", it looks like Mick Garris will be directing a four-hour version of BoB (gotta love that acronym). More info on IMDB
This is Garris's seventh SK project. Frank Darabont better get busy.

Hallelujah!
Hi,
And What the Giant Said, thnkee for posting that, Bob.
I think that Mick Garris always makes a good, dependable adaptation of Sai King's work (the word 'worthy' comes to mind) without ever achieving the artistry of Darabont.
So I feel confident that he'll do a good adaptation.
But I doubt if he's likely to do a GREAT one!
Long days and pleasant nights
Ayuh, I agree, John. Everytime I watch a Mick Garris production I keep hoping that he WILL achieve what Frank Darabont has done with his adaptions of King's work. Maybe this time, with BoB, he will, as it's more of a love story with out all the blood and guts thrown in there (although he will do a great job at telling Sara's story, that ones got some blood to it!). Hope Springs Eternal, right?
This is certainly one of my favourite SK books by far! Therefore, this news is thrilling, and I look forward to seeing it on screen. Hope it comes to South Africa, though . . .
Always pictured Bag of Bones as a movie adaptation. Hope they stay close to the story. I love this book, plus it's a creepy read.
I have always thought there was a good movie there. IMO, Bag of Bones was the last great SK novel. Not the last good one, but the last GREAT one, the way Scent of a Woman is largely considered the last great Pacino role.
Indeed ,this is good news!
Bag of Bones will look great on the small screen- although I think Pierce Brosnan is 'too much' for the role of Mike Noonan. Garris will need to scrape some of that suave off Pierce and make him into an ordinary guy with a broken heart- rather than a playboy of the western world.
Still, BoB is a great story and deserves to be seen by TV viewers.
Long days and pleasant nights.
I would never have thought of Brosnan for the Mike Noonan role. Still not sure if I like it.
Annabeth Gish and Melissa George seem at least perfectly adequate as Jo and Mattie, respectively.
Of course, I can forgive a few questionable casting decisions because this is probably going to be one of those things I'll love in spite of whatever flaws it ends up having, the way I still love Kubrick's The Shining even though it merrily ignores much of its source material.
I've heard of the idea but not sure I agree with the casting. I don't picture Mike as a 007 kind of guy; the ruggedly handsome type. Also, Annabeth Gish and Melissa George? Terrible! I like the two, don't get me wrong; I enjoyed Gish in The Last Supper and George in 30 Days of Night and the Amityville remake but if George is set to play Mattie, she's too old! Mattie is 20. George looks at least 30. And Jo is a redhead. I know those are probably shallow generalizations but I can't help how I feel. I prefer the way the characters appear in my brain to those cast to play the parts in the series.
I'm going back to the TR.
