The Hatch - Minor Spoilers?

I just finished re-reading the novel and I noticed something interesting. Gard says that there is a symbol on the hatch of the ship that looks "almost Chinese."

Normally King illustrates this kind of thing, but it occurred to me that it could be the same symbol on the door in IT and on the device in Under the Dome.

I was curious if anyone else thought this? And if it is the same symbol, what does it mean? It's obviously alien, but I don't see a connection between Pennywise and the Leatherheads and the Tommyknockers...
