i have always wondered about the plant...that sounds interesting
I think we're at an interesting intersection between being an honest, to-the-bone fan, and an obsessive, scary one. As an artist, Mr. King has the right to not publish anything he wants to. If he deems it fit to print, then bonus for us. But until then, there are a lot of reasons to not let a manuscript or set of poetry out of the house, privacy being one of them. I'm not exactly sure you'd want anyone else reading poetry you'd written for your wife on your twentieth anniversary. See what I'm saying? This is an interesting intersection between what we fans want and what SK is willing to give us.
I would like -- for my own reasons -- to read all of his stuff. Whether or not he's published it or not....
We exist only on what is offered and fed to us via different mediums. To demand to see all of Mr. King's works is to be, well, and obsessive and scary AND rude fan. The only right I see a fan having is that of critique. When do I, as a fan, have the 'right' to read his stuff.
He already has that right. He can share it with whomever he pleases. Or not. It's not up to the average fan to decide what gets printed and what doesn't.When does he as the writer have a 'right' to not share his written work with me or anyone else?
Wow. Were you serious with this post?
There are photos of me I would rather others didn't see. Maybe it's kinda like that. (No, not those kind!)
There is nothing sadder than a book that has been written and will never be read.
on this topic, I really enjoy the book The Lost Works of Stephen King, in which the author attempts to summarize various unpublished works based on his own and/or other's readings of said works. Not the same as actually reading the stuff, but still pretty amusing IMO, especially the collection of short horror stories King wrote when just a kid
