Default VI Song of Susannah my thoughts while reading. As scattered as they may be.

The following inserts are emails between my husband and I. He has read and finished up to book six. He has refused to read book 7 because he doesn't want the series to end. He keeps reading the series 1 - 6 over and over. Maybe when book 8 is released he will read book 7. I picked the series up about 2 weeks ago and just finished book six. Anyhoo last night my husband and I were finally able to talk about the series. Well he was finally willing to talk because he didn't want to spoil anything for me. He grabbed a book off of our never ending book case and read the following excerpt from a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald The Great Gatsby I think I might be plagiarizing if I typed it so it's on page 112 last paragraph. He was able to put into worlds what I was thinking but could not grasp at. God I love him. Earlier that day was when I started to flood him with these emails about my thoughts. And here they are.

Kevin to Cristina 5/3/2011 6:59 am Kevin's dream

    [COLOR="navy"]Set ablaze those giant dinosaurs.

    WHAT!

I had this really crazy dream. Remember the giant tree creatures from Lord of the Rings? Well, I was either a member of their army or with an army of them and we were fighting giant dinosaurs with fire at night. One of the giant dinosaurs said a name that began with the letter R (I dont remember what it was) and thats when I woke up.

Crazy but sounds like a cool dream.

Kevin to Cristina 5/16/2011 7:50 am Christina'a Dream

Tell me again about your dream?

The dog 3 fish hooks then pulling out other weird things from his skin. Why?

Just wanted to hear it again. What weird things did you pull out.

one was something the color (silver) of one of Declans toys from his mechanics set but to hard to explain while typin call me

If you only walk on sunny days you'll never reach your destination

Thats what you pulled out with fish hooks?

No the fishhooks were in his skin I pulled some out with my hands some I had to get needle nose pliers for (The phone rang)

Stephen Kings the Dark Tower series is a story that's it nothing more nothing less. It is a story in itself but also about the mind of the writer and his and everyone's fragmented thought process. It's the story of his life long writing career. His odyssey. In his mind book one would have been the first book he had ever written. But other thoughts through time and space came to him and had to relinquish writing this series so he would not loose these other stories. For he new in is mind that this series would stay with him over the years. He knew that if he didn't write the other books like Salems lot just like when another person has a thought that he doesn't jot down on a scrap of paper it would be lost forever. This is Stephen Kings Ka

Are we in some story book!!!! Was I/we not just talking yesterday about how Declan and the N64 is his precious. And now I read in the book that Eddie believes that they are in a book and Calvin towers thinks his books are his precious as referenced out of the movie I was just talking about yesterday (lord of the rings). The thought I have is is this what Stephan King wanted his readers to play into their subconscious. Or is it mere coincidence. Or was the thought placed but I wasn't able to put to and to together at that time. It was there but until I read it it would not have been known.

Did you by chance pick that up from me and put to and to together and know that it was where it was leading me without saying anything.

    His response was
    No

No offense intended, but I'm kinda confuzzled by the meaning of this post. I'd love to read your opinions on this series, without the emails, if you would like to share. Also...will you be reading book seven, even though your husband has chosen not to? I hope you both choose to finish this series, it seems such a waste to travel this far with the characters and not complete their journey with them.
    Welcome to the board.

Yes. They were just my ramblings. I am not being entirely clear with my thoughts because they are hard to grasp. I read books 1 through 4 exactly like that "as books." As part of a story. It wasn't until books 5 and 6 that in my mind the story was also being played out in advance while I was reading. So as I was reading, these thoughts were coming to my head and I would email them to my husband. So my imaginings were there before I read the way things actually happened. But I questioned. Were they there? Or. Were the seeds already planted by King? I think just a little tiny seed was planted and allowed to blossom. I can see it's hard to understand my ramblings because I also didn't reference where in the books I was.

Kevin's dream just hand the significance that while he was reading he had a dream about someone with a name starting with the letter R and could not remember his name and fighting with the tree ents. I was just reading the part in Songs of Susannah Where Roland and Eddie were in the shootout and the truck with the trees just wiped out in Maine.

My dream really didn't mean anything except that it happened in between my other ramblings.

The next day while I was reading about them in Maine I had this thought about this series
"It's the story of his life long writing career. His odyssey. In his mind book one would have been the first book he had ever written. But other thoughts through time and space came to him and had to relinquish writing this series so he would not loose these other stories. For he new in is mind that this series would stay with him over the years"

Then as I continue reading King as King in the book states my above thought. But I told my thoughts to my husband before I read them in the book . And to a T is how King put my thoughts about the book into his words. Or put his words into my thoughts. Although I didn't figure this out until I was finished with book 6.

Again with my last excerpt Declan (our son) was coveting his nintendo and I looked at Kevin and said "My precious" and we laughed with each other. The next part of book 6 that I read was about Calvin Towers and his precious "books"

I guess my ramblings are me giving myself the hebejebes.

I finished book 6 right before this post and will be leaving the house to do some groceries and get book 7. Kevin has read the series 1-6 more than once with the hopes of learning more from the characters in the story line. He wants to read book 7 with a thorough understand of books 1-6. But he hasn't read book 7 mostly for a desire to not have the story end.

I hope this post brings a little clarity.

    Hi there Amnesobel,

It was by book 3 that seeds were blooming in my mind. I was out shopping in town and I saw an unvarnished door at the side of a chinese restaraunt. I stood staring at the door for nearly a minute wondering where the door led to. it just looked so out of place and unfinshed to be a door that was used a lot. Where did it go? To the Kitchen? An upstair flat? Or to another world where Lobstrosities asked Dad-a-chuck.
