    Default the regulators

I just finished reading The Regulators and thought it was not SKs best work.

Any more feed back than that? Have you read Desperation?

It's arguably not his greatest...but I'll take bad SK over other authors anyday(This is not a paid endorsement)...

Seemed to me to be an experiment that was not entirely successful ... the premise owed a fair bit to the story "It's a GOOD life" by Jerome Bixby, IMO. I much preferred the treatment of the subject and the characters in Desperation, personally.

Made me want to go to the store and stock up on Spaghetti-Os. Rethinking it now, the story does have that 'under a dome' feeling to it, maybe a kind of Looney Tunes beep-beep, horn-section playing in the background. One of the ideas behind the story, and Desperation, that of taking a group, actors, and putting them in different situations is interesting but in the end maybe all it did was confuse readers?

I'd have found it more surprising if you had said it WAS his best work.

I found the Regulators/Desperation to be quite enjoyable, but it takes a lot to break the King top 5 or top 10 even.

The Regulators is in my top 5. I loved this book, it grabbed me from the first page and didn't let go! Desperation on the other hand didn't peak my interest as much. Maybe if I would have read Desperation first I would have a different opinion.

I really enjoyed "The Regulators". Same with "Desperation". Stephen King wrote stories about demons very well. Am I off track, or is Tak not a demon?

Arguably is right ! And ya.. bad SK is still better than most authors. I thought there was too many characters in the story.I still dont understand why he introduced "Steve".
